EACS - Leo Elementary GRADE SCALE

This replaces the grading policy in the 2024-2025 student assignment books and take-home folders.

GRADE POLICY:

The school year is divided into two (2) semesters and four (4) nine-week grading periods. The first grading period report cards are shared with parents during Parent Conferences, usually held in October. The second and third grading period report cards are sent home with students and must be signed by a parent and returned to the classroom teacher. The final report card is sent home on the last day of the school year with each student or may be mailed to the student’s home.

 

Kindergarten and First Grade:

Letter Grade Range

E Exceeds Grade Level Expectations 89.5 – 100%

M Meets Grade Level Expectations 79.5 – 89.4%

P Progressing Toward Grade Level Expectations 69.5 – 79.4%

N Not Meeting Grade Level Expectations 0 – 69.4%

 

Second through Sixth Grade:

For the subjects of Reading, Writing, Word Study, and Math, letter grades are assigned based on the

following EACS guidelines:

A + = 98 – 100% B + = 87 – 89% C + = 77 – 79% D + = 67 – 69%

A = 93 – 97% B = 83 – 86% C = 73 – 76% D = 63 – 66%

A - = 90 – 92% B - = 80 – 82% C - = 70 – 72% D - = 60 – 62%

F = 59% or less

 

Parents will be contacted in a timely manner if their child is experiencing academic difficulty or if retention is being considered. Parents are encouraged to check their child’s grades on Skyward and contact their child’s teacher(s) with questions.

 

*If a student turns in an assignment/quiz/test that earns a grade from 0-50%, then the teacher will enter a score in the range of 51-59% in the grade book.

For Grades Kindergarten through Third Grade:

*If a student has a missing assignment, the corresponding grade will become 50%. The student has until the end of the bundle to turn in the missing assignment.

 

For Grades Fourth through Sixth:

*If a student has a missing assignment, the corresponding grade will become 0%. The student has until the end of the bundle to turn in the missing assignment.

 

Assignments will fall into one of two categories:

Summative/Formative Weighting Percentages: 60%Summative/40% Formative for Reading Workshop, Writing Workshop, & Mathematics
